Forx Film Fest 2009

The 2009 Forx Film Fest is now accepting entries. This eighth annual festival of regionally-made independent movies will be held the weekend of November 6-7, 2009 at the historic Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks. The deadline for submitting a movie for screening is October 2 (mailing postmark) or October 5 for hand-delivery to the Empire.
The festival is looking for video and film projects of all types and running times. The only requirement is that a project be made for under $100,000, and made in or by people from the North Central region. This includes North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Montana, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.
Entry fees are $15 for short movies (under 45 minutes) and $20 for feature-length (45 minutes or longer). The entry fee for student movies of any length is $10. Winners in each category will receive an award certificate plus a cash prize derived from the entry fees. An additional certificate will be awarded for “Audience Favorite.” Entry categories include Short (under 45 minutes), Feature (45 minutes or over), Documentary, Music Video, Animated, and Student Production.
Official movie selections will be screened for the public at the Empire at three screening sessions. Evening sessions on Friday, November 6th and Saturday, November 7th will begin at 7:00 p.m. An afternoon session on Saturday, November 7th will start at 1:00 p.m. A morning panel discussion/Q&A on making movies will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 7th. Admission fees to attend are $10 for each session or $25 for the entire festival. People whose movies are scheduled to show at the film festival will be able to purchase the full festival pass for $15. The Saturday morning panel discussion is free and open to the public.
