The first of its kind in the Red River Valley, The Edge will feature curated performances by local, regional, and national artists. Executive Director Emily Montgomery says, “Our goal is for The Edge New Works Festival to serve as a catalyst for local and regional performing artists, schools, and organizations to create work that is exciting, collaborative, and high in quality. The name ‘The Edge’ refers to the discussion that will undoubtedly take place about living on the edge: geographically, culturally, and creatively.”
The 2015 participants, selected from an application process, include: The Lovely Dozen (Grand Forks), the North Dakota Ballet Company, the Grand Forks Master Chorale, Conduit Theatre (Grand Forks), the Empire Theatre Company (Grand Forks), Dr. Christopher Gable & Merie Kirby (Grand Forks), the University of North Dakota Trumpet Ensemble, and StoryWorks, a troupe from San Francisco that will be premiering a piece which documents the events surrounding one of the most tragic rig explosions in the history of the Bakken shale boom.
