Descombabulados are four university professors who came together to play Brazilian music in Grand Forks, ND—hence the band’s name, a Brazilianized version of the word “discombobulated.” The group performs both original compositions and classics from the Brazilian songbook, covering genres as diverse as bossa nova, samba, forró, and rock. Their repertoire includes interpretations of artists ranging from Antônio Carlos Jobim to Os Mutantes. While rooted in traditional Brazilian music, the band also expands into other styles, such as tango, folk, pop, and punk.
