A new play about a human nutrition study that draws subjects from around the country. Some sign up for the money, some consider it a personal retreat, but nobody's there for the science. (Except the scientists.)

Need: adults 18+ for 5w and 4m. *All actors/crew provided with a modest stipend for their work.

Performed on the mainstage of the Empire Arts Center Feb. 12-21.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Reports to: Empire Arts Center Board of Directors

THE ORGANIZATION

Since its rebirth as an arts center in 1998, the Empire Arts Center has become a cultural anchor of historic downtown Grand Forks, welcoming over 30,000 visitors each year. A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the Empire strives to maintain an exemplary space to support the creative efforts of our community while maintaining its own artistic programming, such as the Empire Theatre Company, The 1919 Lounge, and more.

THE POSITION

The Executive Director is the head administrator, manager, and face of the Empire Arts Center. This is a salaried position, Full-time exempt. Frequent evenings and weekend hours as required.

Primary Duties:

●       Personnel management: hiring, supervising direct reports, performance review of staff members, volunteer coordination/ management

●       Financial oversight, including budgeting, payroll, bookkeeping, AP/ AR and other items

●       Donor development & engagement

●       Schedule and attend monthly board and board committee meetings, including

compile and present agenda, board meeting minutes, financial report and staff report

●       Manage rental events and programming: contracts, scheduling, coordination, etc.

●       Facilitate strategic planning process

●       Serve as the public face of the Empire Arts at community events

●       Manage maintenance needs and upkeep of historic building

Oversee marketing and programming efforts with assistance from Program Manager, including:

●       Manage and update website

●       Media relations, including press releases

●       Manage e-mail marketing and social media platforms

●       Create and implement marketing messaging for overall Empire brand

●       Create and implement marketing plans for Empire events

●       Serve as a marketing resource for Empire rental events, providing assistance, ideas, and media contacts as needed

Fundraising, donor development, and grant writing:

●       Oversee grants, monitoring deadlines, reporting, seek new grants, and grant writing

●       Stewardship and maintaining donor database

●       Plan and execute fundraising events as needed

●       Identify and solicit potential donors of all gift sizes

●       Solicit program ads and sponsors

Other

●       Manage or attend weekend/evening events as needed

●       Assist with light cleaning and setup as needed

●       Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

An appreciation and understanding of the arts and the Empire Arts Center’s role in our community is a must. Qualified candidates will also exhibit a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, willingness to learn new skills, flexibility (event-related work), the ability to foster excellent working relationships with public representatives and other funding agencies, creativity, and excellent interpersonal skills. A preferred candidate will have the following:

●       Non profit OR professional leadership experience

●       Business administration background

●       Marketing experience/ familiarity

Preferred qualifications include bachelors degree, supervisory experience, and fundraising experience. This position will include frequent night and weekend hours.

Compensation

The range for this position is $49,000- $60,000 dependent on experience.
