Dr. Lavinia Iancu is an Associate Professor and Director of the Forensic Science Program at the University of North Dakota. She holds a Ph.D. in Biology with expertise in forensic entomology and microbiology. Her research focuses on developing innovative methods for estimating the time elapsed since death (or the postmortem interval) by studying insect and microbial dynamics, contributing to global forensic investigations. Dr. Iancu has received multiple honors, including the AAFS Outstanding Early Career Achievement Award and a Fulbright Senior Award. At UND, she leads efforts to integrate cutting-edge science and technology into forensic education and practice, preparing the next generation of forensic science professionals.
